Pieces in this series focus on scenes and objects in nature, which are specifically identified in the title - in this case, the sea on a stormy day, as seen through a curtain of grasses. From that natural, original photographic element, arises the artist's additional interpretations through creative abstract digital exploration.
When the day is stormy, the colors of the world become muted, as here, where the sea is only a suggestion of turbulent gray and the blackening sky portends rain. The grasses, swaying in the wind, retain only a hint of their usually deeper and lusher greens.
While abstract art doesn't specifically represent external reality, but exists somewhat independently of it and may seek to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures, it can, as in the case of this art piece, take specific realistic elements as springboards for creative excursions - emotionally and metaphorically.

Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.

A beautiful variation on a familiar nature theme. The delicacy of the colours is truly special here.

Great lines in these delicate grasses . . . I feel the sea breeze - or is it stronger than that? - moving through them. This is one of my two pod's in the Best of Minimalism group for January 6.
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Nikolyn. Yes, a bit stronger than a breeze that day, with a storm front on its way.
Tim Beebe
I like the contrast of the light on the grasses with the moodiness of the sky in the background. L/F, and one of my PoD's, Best of Minimalism, January 4.
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Tim.
