Pieces in this series focus on scenes and objects in nature, which are specifically identified in the title - in this case, the twining, interweaving of grass spears as seen from the point of view of a small creature perhaps moving along at ground level. From that natural, original photographic element, arises the artist's additional interpretations through creative abstract digital exploration.
Grass, as we'd find in our yards, is something we'd usually consider unremarkable, but when we envision it from this fresh vantage point and provide it with subtle and changing hues of blues and greens and purples, as it might appear at different times of day, it suddenly takes on the aura of the world of the imagination.
While abstract art doesn't specifically represent external reality, but exists somewhat independently of it and may seek to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures, it can, as in the case of this art piece, take specific realistic eleme...
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.

Ken Lerner
Mitch Super fine abstraction and superb color palette!! Both absolutely minimal and totally natural at the same time -- producing a stunningly beautiful work!! Thank you for taking us into the fantastic world of small creatures!! This is a pix that one wouldn't get tired of looking at even after many years -- one could have a whole wall of a bedroom filled up with this image - 8'x12' and not get tired of it or find it overwhelming! Superb work!!
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Ken. What an extraordinarily thoughtful and complimentary comment you've left for me and for this piece. I do very much appreciate it. It's a personal favorite, and so your appreciation is doubly meaningful.

Mitch I kept seeing this in folks PoD choices and I liked it more every time I saw it. Love the color palette and the way it breaks up the page. Looks like a pastel (I can just feel the chalkiness)! Getting that tactile sensation from a digital image is really masterful.
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Gina. It's one I keep revisiting myself, and so I'm very pleased by your reaction to it.
