Description
The posterior end of a diamondback rattlesnake skeleton here is stark against the deep black background. It's both a biological specimen and a strong natural graphic image in its own right - divorced from what it actually is.
The original owner of the bones, the venomous diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox or Crotalus adamanteus - western or eastern variety), is found in the southern North Carolina, Florida, and west to Lousiana (eastern) and southwestern United States and Mexico (western).
