The wonderful tropical colors of the buildings of this beautiful town are topped by the church on the hill, the Catedral de Flores. Flores is the capital of Pet�n, Guatemala's northernmost department. The town is actually an island in the lake, dates from the 9th century, and is not far from the Mayan ruins of Tikal.
