Description
This gorgeous pair of giant elands (Taurotragus derbianus) posed perfectly for me, backed by their natural-feeling treed habitat.. Are they not impressive animals? The giant eland is the largest species of antelope with body length up to 290 cm and weight up to 1,000 kg. But they aren't called "giant" as much for their size as for their extraordinary horns. They live in small herds of 15 to 25 animals in the woodlands and grasslands of Africa. They are also domesticated and kept on farms for their milk and their meat. This pair called Zoo Miami in Florida their home.
