Description
The always impressive and regal great blue heron (Ardea herodias) stands at attention, backed by a stand of tall grasses. This digital painting captures the beauty of both the blue-gray and white tall shorebird and the many shades of green in the foliage that surrounds it.
These sizable wading birds are common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galapagos Islands, and of course, here in my home state of Florida.
