Description
The horrible thistle, Cirsium horridulum, is a North American plant in the sunflower family. It's also called bristly, yellow, southern yellow (called yellow but can have red to purple flowers), bigspine, or bull thistle. Thistles can be spectacular plants to look at, as is this one. They can also be painful ones to touch, as is this one. And, no, I did not touch it. But I do admire its beauty. Here this single specimen's brilliant green and pink colors are showing off against a deep black background.
