The spider is seen close up in silhouette. The tones are browns of the background, blacks of the spider and deep shadows, and white of the web itself and the sparkling dewdrops that cling to it. The photographic effect is created by zooming the lens during exposure, from wider to narrower coverage, creating a dramatic blur at the edges of the piece and a crisp spider at the center. The mood that results is eerie and mysterious.
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.
