Description
The colonnade, architecturally a long sequence of columns, is impressive as it stretches along one side of the central courtyard of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida, as are the decorative sculpted figures topping the wall. Here, the human-created architecture is paired with nature's softening effect of the tall tropical palms and other greenery, as well as the brilliant blue sky and clouds beyond.
This is the state art museum of Florida. It was established in 1927 and is a legacy of the Ringlings to the people of of the state. It is governed by the University of Florida.
