At Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida, the sandpipers in this large group seem to be having a convention just where land meets water in a gentle shoreline arc. The colors of nature around them are blue and gold in the warm light. Do you suppose the single gull standing alone just behind the group is confused - or just waiting to see what food this bunch might discover in the water?
