Description
The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center is in the downtown historic district of Ft. Myers, Florida, on Florida's southwest coast. The center functions as an art gallery, a performing arts center, and an arts, music, and theater school. Hundreds of years ago, the site was a Native American Calusa settlement. In the mid 1800s it became the site of the original fort of Ft. Myers. This building was built in 1933 as a post office, designed by Florida architect Nat Gaillard Walker in the Neoclassic Revival style, and eventually it became a federal court house in the 1960s. In 2003, the long abandoned building, which had fallen into severe disrepair, was rescued and renovation began. The unusual metal sculpture shown at the left in this image, has cutout words naming native plants of the area.

Congratulations, Mitch, to you and your buyer in St. Louis Park. I lived there for years and we all had good taste. :)
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Steve. I didn't remember that you'd lived in the US. Good taste all round for sure. :-)
