The point of view is right down there on the sand and face to face with the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius). Although most geckos don't have movable eyelids, this species does. And this individual seems to be winking at us and smiling in amusement at a private joke. The species is native to Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Iran, but is well-established as a pet.
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.

A nicely done photo of a dissolute gecko that looks very pleased with itself. Wonderful image, Mitch! L/F -- Joe.
Mitch Spence replied:
Thank you, Joe. Does make you smile back, doesn't he?
