Description
The beautiful snake, the emerald tree boa constrictor (Corallus caninus), rests its head on its own coils. Its golden eye contemplates you, the viewer. Here we see only the head and a part of the coils, close up. The scales are detailed in green, yellow, and white. These snakes inhabit wet lowland rain forests of South America. They are found in the canopy and the understory of the rain forest and are reported to be most common in branches overhanging bodies of water.
