Description
Even at rest, quietly lying next to one another, the two rhinoceroses present a strong and formidable presence. Their two horns protrude as if mountain peaks, and although their eyes seem nearly closed, a viewer is sure they could lunge up in a moment to confront anything or anyone that needed to be confronted. These are the black rhino (Diceros bicornis), native to eastern and southern Africa. The animals are listed as critically endangered.
