Description
The parade's in town, or rather in Myakka River State Park in southwest Florida. The parade of American white pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhyncho) is moving along serenely on the Myakka River. The white pelicans winter in Florida but do not breed here, while the brown pelicans are year-round residents. On shore, amid the golden grasses, a single sandhill crane (Grus canadensis) watches the procession with interest. The original photograph has been treated with a light digital painting technique to enhance the glowing light of the beautiful scene.
