This is a lovely,secluded quiet place, complete with rustic bench amid the greenery. It looks out upon the grounds of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, and upon Sarasota Bay beyond. This is the only botanical garden in the world dedicated to the display and study of epiphytes, especially orchids and bromeliads, and their canopy ecosystems. Epiphytes are plants that grow harmlessly upon another plant (such as a tree) and derive their moisture and nutrients from the air, rain, and sometimes from debris accumulating around it.
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.
