American Flamingo - All Tucked In metal print by Mitch Spence. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
Here we see the flamingo's back and head against a dark background and its classic feathers in bright color and detail. The bird's head is turned toward its body and the beak is tucked entirely under the feathers in an attitude of rest and relaxation. But the wonderful golden eye remains open and looking at the viewer. The pink and reddish colors of a flamingo's feathers come from eating pigments (particularly beta carotene) found in algae and invertebrates. There are six species of flamingo; this one is the American flamingo, Phoenicopterus ruber.
