The water still flows over this rustic water wheel, even though moss has greenly covered some of it. The wooden wheel is next to the weathered boards and open door of the barn and pump house. The light is soft from a late afternoon sun, low in the sky, and the scene is a quiet one, tranquilly reminiscent of the simplicity of another time. The scene was found in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.

Mitch, in the south of France, at::L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, there are the most wonderful water wheels built to grind the corn, then.........and there was a Bette Davis movie in which she was strapped to one of these, lol, but managed to survive, of course....I love these wheels, powered by nature's water powers. Cheers,V.
Mitch Spence replied:
So glad you enjoyed the image, Viva, and that it brought fond memories as well.
