The Rock of Cashel is a historic site in Tipperary, Ireland. Cashel is the Anglicized version of the Gaelic word Caiseal, meaning fortress. In the fourth century, a Welsh clan conquered much of the region from this site. It was given to the church in the twelfth century and a number of church related architectural features were added after that. It has not been used as a place of worship since the mid 1800s. This view features a grave marker in the form of a cross in the foreground, the stone wall of the grounds, and then a long view across the brilliant green of the fields, which are dotted with far away sheep. The sky is gray, lowering, and stormy.
Although much of my career had been in editing and writing, I have been delighted for some time to concentrate on both photography and artistic creations based on photography. Through this medium I thoroughly enjoy the world, from city to suburb to country, from my roots in the US Midwest to fascinating Florida, to Ohio, where I now live. My artistic interests are eclectic. Much engages me. I hope my art will please and engage you as well.
