Description
At the Ringling estate in Sarasota Florida, the mansion of John and Mabel Ringling contains beautiful windows with each pane of old glass of varying pastel colors. Both the textures of this antique glass and its colors create an ever-changing artistic, impressionistic view of the grounds - in effect, a new piece of art every time you look out the window and a new piece of art in each separate pane. Here, the view is of the intricate patterns of tile that create a spectacular patio and dock area for this historic home and of Sarasota Bay and the sky beyond. This mansion of the circus king John Ringling and his wife Mabel is called Ca' d'Zan,which means house of John. It's on the same grounds as is the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art. The architectural style is said to be Mediterranean Revival.
