Description
The view is from the roadway and through the arches of the Smithfield Street Bridge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beyond the bridge rise the skyscrapers of downtown Pittsburgh. The scene is bathed in the golden light of the hour just before sunset. Built 1881-1883, this is Pittsburgh's oldest surviving river bridge. The span was designed by Gustav Lindenthal and is a National Historic Landmark.
