Description
The passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) always seems to me almost alien in it's beauty. And this specimen is no exception. The purple blossom with its intricate tendrils is here showcased against brilliant green foliage. And an extra little present is the bee that's come to visit. The flower is known by several names including purple passionflower, maypop, wild apricot, and wild passion vine. It's a fast-growing perennial vine, and its dried leaves are used to make tea, which is said to have several medicinal effects, such as relieving anxiety and analgesic qualities.
