Description
Where earleaf acacias (Acacia auriculiformis) grow, there generally isn't much one could identify as autumn color. They are native to Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, but the fast growing trees are now considered exotic invasive plants in Florida in the United States. The beautiful yellow and rust colors of these fallen banana-shaped leaves, however, certainly bring to mind traditional fall colors, especially when combined with the textures and earth tones of the boardwalk on which this little group rests. And there's much that's pleasing about their lovely natural design. It took me quite awhile to identify these after capturing the image, and a trip to the local extension office, but now that I have, it seems I see them everywhere on my conservation area walks.

There is something very appealing about the smoothness of the leaves against the wood—the yellow leaf adds a nice contrast to the brown colours surrounding it—my pod for the Best of Minimalism group l/f
