Description
The Alcazar Hotel in historic St. Augustine, Florida, was opened by Henry Flagler on December 25, 1888. The building was designed by Carrere and
Hastings and constructed by McGuire and McDonald, with the supervising architect J. W. Ingle. Today the building houses the St. Augustine City Hall and the Lightner Museum. This view shows the impressive building front with its distinctive Spanish Renaissance Revival style architecture and tropical landscaping. The design of the Alcazar was inspired by the royal palace in Seville, Spain. The hotel was placed on the National Historic Register in 1971.
