Description
Pieces in this series focus on scenes and objects in nature, which are specifically identified in the title - in this case, the collar, a circular area of raised bark where a limb was once attached to a live oak tree. From that natural, original photographic element, arises the artist's additional interpretations through creative abstract digital exploration.
Pines are all conifers in the genus Pinus. We see their needles on the ground any time we walk among and beneath them. They are so ubiquitous that we would usually pay them little mind. But their fallen groups are intricately intertwined and beautiful in their own right when we look closely. In this abstract art from the natural world, the needles take on a softness and unity in their circular form of meshed individuals and earthy colors.
While abstract art doesn't specifically represent external reality, but exists somewhat independently of it and may seek to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures, it can, as in the case of this art piece, take specific realistic elements as springboards for creative excursions - emotionally and metaphorically.
