Description
While I was walking along the path, this great blue heron (Ardea herodias) was on its way from somewhere to the pond around which I often walk - Ollie's Pond in Port Charlotte, Florida. It's just out of camera range on the right. I love the capture because it's so different from the nearly motionless way we often see them - standing in the water with an eye out for fish to eat - or else in full flight.
These sizable wading birds are common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galapagos Islands.

Thanks, Karen. Yes, it does look like we needed a little dance tune there, doesn't it?
